Ang Mga Makat.unan sa Honor: The Jose Abad Santos Story

1. Nga angay ta mga Cebuano nga naay gitawag nga skin in the game, dili lang words, but transport the words into actions. Pinaka Nassim Taleb pa, those who talk should do, and only those who do should talk. When Jose Abad Santos said he wanted to die for his country, it wasn't just words.

 2. That book smart is good and needed but we should never forget our primal neanderthal roots and skills in hunting and running rocket-fast away from lions and other predators.

I am impressed by Jose Abad Santos' booksmarts and nothing to say against his intellect, but if he had learned solid jiu jitsu or krav maga or some MMA, then he mightve been able to stab the Japanese predators in the neck and saved himself and his kid.

Nassim Taleb is the muscular philosopher who reminds us to be antifragile. Be so intellectually superior, but also so tactically fit like an assassin. Rationality is to balance the brain and brawns. To survive is always be both. Let's not be nerds, or worse, Intellectual Yet Idiots aka IYI.

3. That films like Honor and other bisaya films, Cebuano cinema, video, and content made with/for/by/in Cebu or Philippines should put business in the center. Because isn't making art just for self-indulgence unvirtuous? Yes, art can just be self-expressive self-centered pleasure, but the challenge is to elevate art into virtue and put food on people's table.

To save the world is not through Non-Wealth Generating NGOs that beg money from the rich without risk, but through attempts to create more wealth for everyone from risk-taking business generator NGOs that help create more business, like the Cebu Business Month, Cebu International Film Festival and Binisaya Film Festival. Charity is just bandaids, job creators are poverty's cure.

Not that poverty is a bad thing. There can be honor, grace, virtue, tranquility and grandeur in voluntary poverty, especially if rooted in the center of Seneca's stoicism and God's.
