I Went To An APEC Meeting That Reminds Me Of Undiagnosed Mental Illness As Reason For Corruption
The APEC meeting held the afternoon of October 7, 2015 at The Dignitaries Hall in the Cebu Provincial Capitol reminds me of three things:
1. You can be the best blogger in your town if you read books by David Foster Wallace, and start learning ideas that are so over-the-top, you get into a spiral of depression but it's worth it because you are facing The Truths.
These ideas can educate and yet deconstruct everything you know about your faith, religion and country that you'd wish you never knew. I'm talking about ideas like:
These ideas can educate and yet deconstruct everything you know about your faith, religion and country that you'd wish you never knew. I'm talking about ideas like:
1.a) The deaths we have from car accidents are a sacrifice and are the price for the fast highways and transportation advancements we have. If we didn't want these deaths, then we'd have to cut down on all the good roads and fast smartphones we'd been enjoying. You can't have both worlds.
1.b) The rapists have rights. We cannot just wish people to be dead and just cut them off their life just because they raped. The rapists can actually be the victims of mental illness and needs help, not harsh punishment.
I know, it sucks for you to accept that rapists have rights, too. That's why it's easier for your sensation and comfort to just wish them dead and abandoned in the streets. Hurray for your compassion!
2. APEC meeting has infinite opportunities/tragedies, depending on your mood and DSLR Lens of Life. Sure, you can take a knee-jerk attitude and consider APEC as another arm of the imperial US to take over the nation, but you don't think that because that just gets you to the road of treason, unhappiness, anxiety and all other nouns that spell H.E.L.L. for your YOLO life.
You want happiness, you want travel and fun and more comedy from Tina Fey and faster internet connection, and more cakes from other nations.
We can do that by building networks. Yes, the trick to getting to travel to places that's cheaper than the Piso Fares to day is this: Let's APEC It Up and build more networks with other APEC nations. Heck, even Jesus was building networks to achieve Christianity. Even Judas had a network.
And the APEC network seems to be the kind of network that can give you the most satisfying but sometimes shallow (Yes, Lea Salonga, I'm talking about you and your bash against Aldub) pleasures that mean so great for you when you're sad and downtrodden, and that can even save your life.
Who here doesn't think that a Krispy Kreme doughnut can make you feel better after a heartbreak?
I'm talking about the good organic ingredients that are imported from our friends from the APEC community.
Sure, there will be sneaky tactics that you can suspect from the deals made in the APEC, but what is the use really of choosing a reality that's breathing out of insecurity and distrust other than fueling your mentally ill mentality to destroy lives and nations?
Speaking of mental illness: the cure to that could be Yoga, and here in Cebu is The Yoga Tree Mactan Center and the Studio 108 Yoga Center. Both are international-standard Yoga Centers that APEC dignitaries should check out to confirm how sophisticated a market Philippines has now become. Also, Mental Illness is why there are corrupt politicians. Treat that and economies are fixed.
3. APEC is here. Make a mountain out of it by:
- creating your blog and blog about your town that sells peanut butter flavored chicharon. Who knows? Your idea might be picked up by a dignitary from The APEC nation and will provide funding for your town.
- creating a Youtube Channel by going to your nearby Barangay Hall and ask from the Social Service Section there of a person who can teach you how to open a Youtube account and put everything you can on Youtube. Put cat videos there. Document your Lola's recipe of humba. Do something.
- reading free articles from The New York Times, The Brain Pickings and JessicaRulesTheUniverse.com. These websites can teach you about what good books to make you a better writer, what intelligent movies to watch and what music to ignore when everything you listen to now is marketed to be hip and trendy even if it's the stuff of amateurs and lazy evil corporations who tarnish the art of music-making, whatever that means.
